Deep down inside, we all know it’s just a matter of time before the dead rise from their graves to feast on our delicious grey matter. So, we consider our work for this awesome mobile game more of a trial run for future survival than just a visual effects project. And if this spot is any indication, we here at Giant Propeller are going to have a blast when it actually happens – no pun intended. Mowing down zombies is as much fun as it looks: muzzle flashes from high-powered weaponry, incinerated rotting flesh, splatters of curdled blood, fiery explosions and billowing clouds of smoke filling the air. We accomplished this successful defense against the undead by utilizing a mixture of compositing and procedural simulations generated with Houdini, Maya and Nuke software. It’s safe to say that whenever the brain eaters show up, we’ll be ready for ‘em.
